Directions for use:
SURFACE PREPARATION:
GENERAL:
All surfaces to be painted must be clean, dry and in fit condition to be painted. Be sure to remove all wax, silicone, oil, powdery or scaling rust, loose or peeling paint and all other foreign matter. Smooth, slick surfaces should be sanded to achieve adhesion.

BARE FERROUS METAL:
Clean off all dirt, grease, oil, wax or other foreign matter. All loose, powdery or scaling rust must also be removed. A completely de-rusted surface is recommended.

NON-FERROUS METALS:
Clean surface thoroughly, then apply a prep coat of Hy-Lux® 690 Low VOC Etching Filler as a first coat over the non-ferrous metal to insure adhesion. Topcoat the Hy-Lux® 690 Low VOC Etching Filler with Decade Self-Priming Urethane between 2 to 8 hours. After 8 hours, the Hy-Lux® 690 Low VOC Etching Filler should be lightly sanded before applying the first coat of DECADE Self-Priming Urethane.

PAINTED SURFACES:
Decade Self-Priming Urethane may lift old paint. We recommend a test patch. If lifting occurs, remove old paint and follow directions for bare ferrous metals. Be sure all loose and peeling paint is completely removed, and the surface is clean. Remove excess chalkiness with a wire brush or by sanding. MIXING: Be sure all spray painting equipment is clean and ready to use prior to mixing and application of coating. IMPORTANT! Decade Self-Priming Urethane DX-8500 Series must be mixed with DX-8599 Catalyst before the product can be used. Decade Self-Priming Urethane is a two-part product consisting of part DX-8500 Series and DX-8599 Catalyst. The proper mixing ratio is 4:1. Mix four parts of Decade Self-Priming Urethane DX-8500 Series with one part DX-8599 Catalyst. Stir thoroughly to a uniform mixture. Strain mixture prior to application. Mix no more material than will be used in a 2-hour period. Any mixture of DX-8500 Series and DX-8599 Catalyst will have the hazards of both components. Before opening the packages, READ ALL WARNINGS ON THE LABELS. OBSERVE ALL APPLICABLE PRECAUTIONS.
